Defense Minister, UN delegation discuss coordination on redeployment of UNDOF in disengagement zone

Damascus – Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, Defense Minister Major Gen. Ali Abdullah Ayoub discussed on Tuesday with a delegation of UN senior commanders the redeployment of UNDOF forces in the Golan, SANA reported.

The delegation comprises Commander of the UN forces operating in the Golan on the 1974 Disengagement Agreement (UNDOF) Major General Francis Vib-Sanziri, and Major General Kristin Lund Chief of Staff of the (UNTSO)., responsible for the Armistice Agreement and the lines of June 4th, 1967.

Talks during the meeting dealt with the mechanism of coordination between the Syrian government and the leadership of the UN Forces on redeployment the disengagement zone and along the cease-fire line in accordance with the disengagement agreement 1974.

 The two sides also discussed the steps which have been agreed upon to re-activate the use of Quneitra crossing point in light of the agreement that guarantees the passage of families in the occupied Syrian Golan to their motherland Syria under the auspices of the International Committee of the Red Cross.
