Defense Minister: Army Foiled Terrorist Scheme, Restored Normal Life in Many Areas

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Minister of Defense, Deputy Commander in Chief of the Army and Armed Forces, General Mohammad Jasem al-Freij has stressed that the Syrian Arab Army has greatly succeeded in containing the terrorist war waged on the Syrian people, pointing out that most areas where terrorists had positions have returned to be under the control of Syrian state after the terrorists groups were expelled and besieged in limited areas amid a state of confusion, infighting, division and absence of incubating environment.

 In a phone call with the Syrian TV on the Syrian Arab Army’s 72nd Foundation Anniversary, General al-Freij congratulated the personnel of the Syrian Armed Forces on the Syrian Army’s Day, saluting the Syrian people who backed the army and the supporting and allied forces.

He said that most notable indications of the failure of the terrorist war on Syria is the collapse of the terrorist scheme, the return of normal life to many areas and the ability of the Syrian army to achieve major strategic gains over the past years with the support of Syria’s friends and allies. The minister hailed the army’s liberation of Aleppo and large areas of its countryside,  success in expanding its control on the direction of Palmyra and carrying out successful operations deep into the Syrian Badia (desert).

The minister stressed that the army’s war on terrorism will continue with stronger determination to eradicate terrorism from every inch of the homeland and to restore security and stability across the country.
