Defense Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Damascus: The friendship between Syria and China has solid roots and a long history

Damascus (ST): The Embassy of the People’s Republic of China on Tuesday organized a reception on the occasion of the 96th Foundation anniversary of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus.

The defense attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Damascus, Brigadier General Guan Aiping, confirmed in a speech that the friendship between Syria and his country has solid roots and a long history, and despite the changes in the international and regional situation, the two countries have always supported each other.

Brigadier General Aiping described Syria as a “loyal friend” of China, and that the relationship between the two countries is a model for friendly relations between countries with different locations, cultures and systems, pointing out that the practical cooperation between the Chinese and the Syrian armies witnessed continuous development in recent years, and the exchanges in the security and military field resulted in fruitful results.

The defense attaché affirmed that his country will continue its strong support for the Syrian army’s struggle to preserve national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity, and for its efforts in combating terrorism and restoring national security and stability. He expressed his country’s desire to enhance practical cooperation between the two armies in various fields.

For his part, the Minister of Defense, General Ali Mahmoud Abbas, praised China’s position, army, people, and leadership in support for Syria and its just causes during the unjust and aggressive war that was waged against it and at international forums.

Minister Abbas affirmed Syria’s constant endeavor to develop the relationship between the two countries, which extends decades back, in a way that serves the common interest in order to achieve prosperity for the two peoples and achieve a better future.

The Minister of Defense congratulated China and its people on the anniversary of the founding of its army, which coincides on the first of August with the 78th anniversary of the founding of the Syrian Arab Army, pointing to the commitment of the two armies since their establishment to a good relationship that reflects the depth of the existing relations between the two countries.

Director of the Diplomatic Institute at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, Dr. Imad Mustafa told reporters that China is a friend and a strategic ally of Syria, and it serves as the guarantor of a new multipolar world which puts an end to American hegemony on the international arena.
