Defense Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Damascus: It is necessary to enhance relations between the Syrian and Chinese armies
The Defense Attaché at the Chinese Embassy in Damascus, Brigadier General Ha Yongliang, confirmed that his country will continue to support the Syrian army and people in protecting national sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity.
During a reception organized by the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China this evening on the occasion of the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army at the Dama Rose Hotel in Damascus, Brigadier General Ha Yong stressed his country’s readiness to work side by side with the Syrian side to advance relations between the two armies to a higher level.
Brigadier General Ha Yong said: “The celebration of the 97th anniversary of the founding of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army is to share the glorious history of the Chinese army and recall the history of traditional friendship between the Chinese and Syrian armies.”
The Defense Attaché expressed his country’s sympathy with the Syrian people who were subjected to multiple pressures from terrorism and illegal sanctions from the West.
For his part, Defense Minister General Ali Mahmoud Abbas praised China’s role in supporting Syria during the years of the terrorist war waged against it, which included an economic siege and unilateral sanctions by the forces supporting terrorism and participating in the war that affected all aspects of life in it.
The Defense Minister congratulated China and its people on the anniversary of the founding of its army, which coincides with the first of August, the anniversary of the founding of the Syrian Arab Army.
Minister Abbas expressed the pride of the Syrian people and leadership in the strong friendship with the Chinese people, army and leadership that was established since the two countries regained their independence, pointing out that they are working diligently to strengthen this friendship, as evidenced by the visit made by President Bashar al-Assad to China at the beginning of this year and the warm welcome and honor he received from the Chinese leadership and people, which opened the doors of cooperation between them.
The ceremony was attended by a number of directors of departments in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates, ambassadors, representatives of diplomatic missions accredited to Damascus, and economic and social figures.
