Declared Approval of Israel’s crimes, The US State Department’s report on Gaza raises criticism

Washington –(ST)- The US State Department report on Israel’s use of American weapons in the genocidal war on the Gaza Strip was as expected due to the US administration’s clear bias towards the crimes of the occupying entity. The report does not directly condemn the crimes of the occupation forces, which  sparked criticism within American political domains.

The American newspaper, The “Washington Post” considered that the report distances “Israel” from any violations of the laws, and according to progressive lawmakers in Congress, it lacks moral clarity regarding the humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.

Democratic Senator Chris Van Hollen criticized the report and accused the US administration of failing to do the work of conducting a comprehensive assessment.

Van Hollen described the US administration’s assessment of whether US weapons are involved in violations of international law as completely inadequate.

House Foreign Affairs Committee Chairman Michael McCaul confirmed that the report serves no purpose other than providing political cover for Biden and his base.

The Washington Post considered that the conclusion reached by the State Department report allows the continued provision of military assistance to “Israel” even with increasing criticism and pressure to restrict the flow of American weapons to it.
