De Mistura Seeks Holding Talks on Syria on January 25

NEW YORK, United Nations, (ST)-UN Special Envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, seeks holding the Syrian-Syrian dialogue on January 25 in Geneva, Mistura’s spokesman announced on Saturday.

Reuters cited the spokesman as saying in a statement that De Mistura “counts on full cooperation of all the relevant Syrian parties in this process.”

Following a US-Russian understanding, the Security Council has recently adopted resolution No. 2254 calling for launching a political process to solve the crisis in Syria by the Syrians themselves through negotiations between delegations representing the Syrian government and the opposition in January 2016.
