TEHEAN,(ST)_ UN special envoy to Syria, Staffan de Mistura confirmed that a political solution is the only option to end the crisis in Syria and helping the Syrians to draw a better future and achieve stability and security in their country.
During a meeting yesterday in Tehran with Iran deputy Foreign Minister for Arab and African Affairs Hussein Amir Abdullahyan, De Nistura added that “any political solution must take into account the new realities on the Syrian arena,” calling on Iran to help “developing a political solution in Syria.”
The two sides noted, “The central role played by the various components of the Syrian people to determine their country’s future,” stressing the need to facilitate the process of crystallizing the political process by all States and sides involved in the Syrian crisis.
For his part, Abdullahyan pointed his country’s readiness “to cooperate and provide assistance to resolve the crisis in Syria politically,” noting that “Iran supports Syria and Iraq strongly in the fight against terrorism and honor their territorial sovereignty and integrity.”
He regretted certain parties involvement with terrorists and simultaneously with the International alliance against Daesh terrorism, warning that creating a buffer zone inside Syria “will make the situation more complicated.”
Abdullahyan, On the other hand, stressed in a meeting in Tehran today with Dutch deputy Foreign Minister Vim Khertis that the fight against terrorism in the region needs ” a serious international will,” noting his country ‘s “doubts about Washington intention.”
He went on that if the US and the West prevent their fellow citizens to join terrorist organizations and neighboring countries of Syria, Iraq to commit themselves to close the borders before terrorists and send weapons, then Daesh, ‘” will vanish from the inside gradually and thereby no need for alliance, nor for Hollywood scenarios.”
The Dutch official, for his part, stressed the need to “find a political solution to the crisis in Syria,” referring to the importance of Iran’s role in the region and in finding a suitable solution to the crisis in Syria.
He reiterated his country’s support for the formation of a new government in Iraq, considering Iraq’s stability, “as important for the region and Europe.”
He pointed that Daesh terrorist organization is a “threat to his country,” and that his government has taken measures to prevent Dutch nationals from joining terrorist organizations.
