De Mistura, Iranian Officials Discuss Aleppo Situation

TEHRAN, (ST)-The UN Special Envoy for Syria Staffan De Mistura on Sunday held talks with Iranian officials on the situation in the Syrian city of Aleppo, according to de Mistura’s office.

Discussions dealt with the cessation of hostilities, the exit of “Jabhat al-Nusra” terrorists  from eastern Aleppo neighborhoods and constant delivery of humanitarian aid to the both eastern and western parts of Aleppo without obstacles, the office said in a statement.

The statement added that “de Mistura continues to ask for support from concerned parties in the international community as to convince parties of the conflict in Syria to return to dialogue table in Geneva in order to discuss political settlement”.

On Saturday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Jaberi Ansari in a meeting with de Mistura in Tehran renewed his country’s support for a peaceful resolution to the crisis in Syria and for resolving the humanitarian crisis in the city of Aleppo.
