Dashti: Ending the suffering of the Syrian people requires stopping the aggressive war and lifting unilateral Western economic measures

Geneva (ST) – Chairman of the International Council Supporting Fair Trial and Human Rights (ICSFT), Abdul Hameed Dashti, affirmed that the investigation committee concerned with Syria continues to politicize its reports in a way that serves the countries conspiring against Syria.

He noted that ending the suffering of the Syrian people requires stopping the aggressive war and lifting coercive Western economic measures.

Dashti said before the 55th session of the Human Rights Council (HRC) in Geneva: “For 13 years, war, aggression and conspiracy against Syria have continued, and the committee continues its politicized work at the same pace, as it works to distort the reality of the situation, with the support of the countries conspiring against Syria and in a way that serves their agendas.”

He indicated that these same countries have abandoned condemning the crimes of genocide committed by the Israeli occupation against the Palestinian people, especially in the Gaza Strip.

Dashti indicated that the committee’s continuation of its work according to these impotent mechanisms is nothing but a factor of support for the Israeli occupation and a cover-up for its ongoing attacks on Syria, which were not addressed in the committee’s report.

Dashti stressed the need for the committee to refer the issue to the UN Security Council to take a decision to stop the war and end the siege imposed on Syria, calling on all UN bodies to cooperate with Syria, work to remove the Turkish and American occupation forces, and help the Syrian people in rebuilding their country.
