“Dar Halabia”…an old Aleppo house with breathtaking details and unique heritage touches

“Dar Halabia” is located in the “Al-Jalloum” neighborhood, in the middle of the old alleys near Bab Antakya in Aleppo.

It is an old Arab house that was changed by the tourist guide Abdul Hai Kaddour in the year 2000 to a charming heritage hotel with  simple details and a serene atmosphere mixed with the fragrance of the past . Three years ago he turned it into a small café distinguished by its charming  heritage character..

In an interview with SANA, Mr. Kaddour says that “returning to heritage and adhering to it, as well as the beauty and charm of the old, attractive, quiet houses of Aleppo, motivated me to revitalize the old House of Aleppo,” noting the importance of reviving and investing heritage houses in various tourist and cultural fields.

He added: Since 2000 I decided to transform this house into a heritage hotel that attracts tourists with its charming details, including the fountain, wooden decorations, heritage tools, brassware, windmill, water jar and other things that guarantee a guest a special time within a unique heritage ambience.

He stressed that the guests’ notebook confirms the originality of this hotel and the comfort that foreign and Arab guests used to live inside, as they were writing their memories describing the splendor of the place and the beauty of the ancient city of Aleppo.

The 16-room Dar Halabia Hotel is now closed due to the terrorist war in Syria. The hotel has now turned into a small cafe with a simple atmosphere, missing the heritage-loving tourists who used to frequent it.
