Dande: The US gives Israel the green light to attack Gaza and prevents the Security Council from assuming its responsibilities  

The Acting Charge d’affaires of the Permanent Delegation of Syria to the United Nations, Dr. Al-Hakam Dande, stressed that the state of paralysis facing the Security Council regarding the situation in the Occupied Palestinian territories is due to the fact that the United States of America prevented the council from assuming its responsibility in maintaining international peace and security, and its insistence on giving “Israel” the green light to continue its brutal aggression on the Gaza Strip.

During an emergency meeting of the General Assembly on the Israeli aggression on the Gaza Strip, Dande explained that what we have witnessed of the brutal Israeli practices against the Palestinian people for decades, and more recently against the residents of the Gaza Strip, comes in the context of the Israeli occupation’s systematic policy of ethnic cleansing and killing the Palestinian people’s dream of establishing their independent state with Jerusalem as its capital.

Dande stressed the full responsibility of the Israeli occupation for the suffering of the Palestinian people, as a result of its continued acts of barbaric aggression, forced displacement and detention of Palestinians . Some Western countries, especially the United States of America, have provided protection and impunity to “Israel” for its decades-long violations of hundreds of UN resolutions, which demand it to end its continuous occupation of the Palestinian territories, and respect international law and international humanitarian law. This encouraged “Israel” to commit the most heinous crimes and acts of terrorism against Palestinians, not the latest of which is targeting the Al-Ahli Hospital, the Church of St. Porphyrius and UNRWA schools. In addition to the criminal bombing of the Jabalia camp, which represent described war crimes and crimes against humanity.

The Acting Charge d’affaires explained that the attitudes of Western countries supporting Israel’s aggression on Gaza are an open license for “Israel” to kill more Palestinians.

“More than seven decades have passed since the Israeli occupation of the Palestinian territories, and the ongoing plight of millions of Palestinians who have been expelled from their homeland and displaced throughout the land as their lands and property have been seized and turned into settlements, in blatant violation of the Fourth Geneva Convention… More than seven decades have passed since the desperate attempts of the collective West to legitimize this occupation, ” Dande said,” asking, “how long should the Palestinians wait to end their humanitarian tragedy?” How many innocent victims must die in order for the world to be convinced that the Israeli occupation of Arab lands is the main cause of the threat to security and peace in our region?

Dande pointed out that the adoption by the UN General Assembly last Friday of a humanitarian resolution calling for the entry of humanitarian aid and the rejection of forced displacement of Palestinians is the message of the overwhelming majority of member states to end the aggression and stop the crimes and brutal massacres against the Gaza Strip , pointing out that “Israel” met this resolution with criminal military operations inside the Gaza Strip in brazen and immediate violation of the General Assembly resolution.

The High-level official reiterated Syria’s strong condemnation of the ongoing barbaric Israeli aggression against the Palestinian people in the Gaza Strip, and any attempt to cover up the occupation crimes that have claimed the lives of more than ten thousand Palestinians, stressing the need to immediately stop this aggression and allow the entry of humanitarian aid to more than 2.5 million Palestinians in Gaza, and ensure the accountability of “Israel” and its supporters for these crimes.
