Ministry of Higher Education has announced that Damascus University has obtained international accreditation from the World Federation for Medical Education (WFME).
“Damascus University is the first Syrian university to get this accreditation. It is a great achievement that contributes to continuing the international recognition of the certificate granted by the Faculty of Medicine of Damascus University,” Rector of Damascus University Mohammad Osama Al-Jabban told SANA.
He added “the deadline for getting the international accreditation was January 1st, 2024, but we managed to be ready before this date, which ensures that the graduate of the Faculty of Medicine can practice his profession anywhere in the world and ensures that the graduate can complete his/her specialization study and academic achievement abroad”.
He pointed out that obtaining the accreditation requires much hard work to maintain this great achievement by Damascus University.
World Federation for Medical Education (WFME) is a non-governmental organization concerned with education and training of medical doctors worldwide. WFME’s main objective is to “enhance the quality of medical education worldwide, with promotion of the highest scientific and ethical standards in medical education”. The organization develops standards for medical education and promotes accreditation of medical schools.
