Damascus University included for the first time in the Times Higher Education Asia Univesity ranking 2025

For the first time, Damascus University has been included in the UK Times Higher Education Asia Univesity ranking 2025, which makes it the first Syrian university to meet the scientific and educational requirements required for this internationally recognized ranking, which is considered the most important educational and research ranking for universities and research centers in Asia.

Director of the Classification Office at Damascus University, Dr. Marwan Al-Ra’i, explained in a statement to SANA today that the Asian countries ranking includes 853 of the best Asian universities and research centers, out of more than 12 thousand universities and research centers present in the entire Asian continent, and Damascus University came in the +601 category of this classification.

Dr. Al-Ra’i pointed out that the British newspaper “The Times” reported the results of this ranking announced during a two-day conference. The results showed the entry of four new countries into the ranking for the first time in its history, namely Bahrain, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and Syria through the University of Damascus.

It is noteworthy that the University of Damascus, after entering the Asia University ranking, is now present among 19 global rankings, after being limited to only 4 rankings at the end of 2023.
