The University of Damascus has advanced 240 global positions in the 2025 edition of US ranking of universities by UniRanks, reaching the 2576th place globally, up from the 2816th place in the previous year.
Director of the Classification Office at Damascus University Marwan Al-Rai explained in a statement that this classification includes more than 37,000 universities worldwide, which are classified according to more than 100 criteria, including those related to scientific research, Such as the number of scientific research papers published by the university in journals indexed in international databases, such as the “Scopus” research database, in addition to the quality of the research and the extent of its global impact over a period that may extend to three years, since the quality of the research is measured over a specific period of time.
Dr. Al-Ra’i said that Damascus University has been able to make significant progress, due to the doubling of research published in international databases and the presence of more than 13 studies that gained global resonance during the previous period, including research related to Artificial Intelligence applications and environmental research, published by a number of university researchers.
