DAMASCUS- In response to the initiative launched by Damascus Chamber of Commerce on building residential blocks for the people affected by the earthquake in Lattakia and Aleppo, the traders in Damascus have so far donated 4.5 billion Syrian pounds for this purpose.

In a statement on Friday, the chamber thanked the traders, stressing that their humanitarian gesture indicates their national belonging and high spirit of social responsibility towards their fellow citizens and proves the helping role of the Syrian economic institutions during crises.

These donations will contribute to alleviating the suffering of the people in the affected areas, the chamber added, calling for other traders to support this initiative through financial contributions, according to their capabilities.
