Damascus says EU approval of Paris and London policies contributes to growth of terrorism

DAMASCUS, (ST)_ Foreign and Expatriates Ministry has asserted that the European Union’s approval of the policies of Paris and London will prolong the crisis in Syria and will contribute to the growth of terrorism.

It clarified in a statement released today that France and Britain are still practicing policies that will implicate the EU in continuing the aggression on Syria.

The statement came a day after the EU announced its intention to continue imposing fresh sanction on the Syrian people.

“The EU’s short-sighted policy that manifested in  its approval of the two countries’ policies will make the EU responsible for prolonging the crisis in Syria and the growth of terrorism,” the statement said, stressing that the unilateral sanctions that target the Syrian citizen’s livelihood blatantly violate the United Nations charter and the international humanitarian law.

“The EU is the last one that has the right to give lessons about principles and values because some of its state members have made the union’s policy contingent upon attraction of the Gulf  investment, especially from Saudi Arabia and Qatar whose governance systems  contradict human right principles,” the statement added.

It called on the EU to put an end to the policies of some of its members, particularly France and Britain , which implicate the union in stances that do not serve its interests and stability.

“Such stances are being exploited by those EU state members to serve their special agenda which reflect their odious colonialist history,” the statement concluded.
