Damascus says Ankara’s reckless policy threatens regional, international peace

DAMASCUS,(ST)_Foreign and Expatriates Ministry has underscored that the Turkish government’s reckless policy and overt aggression against Syria poses a threat to peace and security of the region and the world.

In a letter sent today to the United Nation Security Council, the ministry said that Turkey will not be spared the disastrous consequences of its reckless policy.

It appealed to the international community and the UNSC to put an end to the Turkish government’s destructive policy and to compel Ankara to abide by the UN resolutions and to halt its unlimited support for the armed terrorist organizations as well as to stop its intervention in the Syrian Arab Republic’s internal affairs.

Overt aggressive policy

“The Turkish President, Racep Tayyib Erdogan, declared yesterday that changing the Syrian regime is a priority in his policy towards Syria, based on that he submitted a motion to the Turkish parliament to allow its government to launch military incursion into Syria and to use its territories for aggression against Syria under the pretext of fighting terrorism and protecting Turkey’s national security,” the ministry said.

It added that the overt policy of the Turkish government breaches the UN charter, which stipulates respect for the national sovereignty of states and non-interference in their internal affairs.

The ministry affirmed that only the Syrian people have the right to choose their leader and to decide their future.”The Syrian people will never allow the Turkish government or others to intervene in their affairs.”

“Since the beginning of the crisis in Syria, Turkish government has exerted every possible effort to inflame the situation, destabilize Syria and damage the coexistence in Syria rather than extending a helping hand to Syria,” the ministry clarified.

It asserted that the Turkish government has the same ideology of the armed terrorist organizations.

“The Turkish Leadership has offered political, military and logistic support for the armed terrorist organizations and facilitated the flow of terrorists that came from more than 83 states to Syria. So Turkey is involved in shedding of Syrian blood,” the ministry said.

AKP-IS deep relations

It confirmed that the Turkish government which is still supporting the armed terrorist organizations, especially the ‘State of Iraq and the Levant’ [known as Daesh in Arabic and as ISIL or IS in most foreign media reports] and al-Nusra Front, in a blatant violation of the UN resolutions No. 2170 and 2178 cannot claim that it is a partner in fighting terrorism.

“The Sketch of kidnapping and releasing the Turkish Consulate’s members in Mosul is an evidence of deep relations between the Justice and Development Party (AKP) and Daesh gangs,” the ministry said.

The ministry’s letter was sent a day after the Turkish Parliament approved a motion that allow its military to enter Syria and Iraq under the pretext of joining the US-led campaign against Daesh [IS].
