Damascus, (ST) – The fourteenth scientific conference of Damascus Physicians Syndicate kicked off today under the title “Scientific Medical Research, Necessity and Prospects.”
A group of professors and doctors participated in the conference at Al-Assad University Hospital in Damascus.
The conference includes about 60 lectures on the developments in medical sciences, and its topics focus on the treatment of musculoskeletal diseases, pediatrics, thoracic medicine and surgery, digestive diseases, endocrinology and diabetes, neuro-ophthalmic diseases, developments in male infertility, cardiac ischemia, interventional vascular surgery, encephalopathy in systemic diseases, and the art of anesthesia in poisonings.
In a statement to reporters during the opening, the Minister of Health, Dr. Hassan Al-Ghobash said that the ministry seeks to provide support for everything that contributes to the development and advancement of the medical profession. He added that the ministry also seeks to work to raise the practical and scientific level of doctors, and to be familiar with the latest developments in medical sciences to support means of continuing medical education as one of the basic ingredients to enhance the professional performance of doctors in their various specialties.
Dr. Ghobash pointed out that the number of services provided during the first half of this year reached nearly 10 and a half million services, despite the unilateral coercive sanctions imposed on the Syrian people.
The Head of the Damascus Doctors Syndicate, Dr. Imad Saadeh, drew attention to the importance of the conference as it presents the latest developments in clinical and research medical sciences, pointing out that the Syndicate seeks to present new topics and modern treatments and transfer them to specialist doctors and residents.
In a statement to SANA, the Director of the Red Crescent Hospital, Dr. Michael Salloum stressed the importance of the conference in terms of scientific education. The medical for the doctors and the continuation of the medical life.
It is noteworthy that the conference will continue until the 30th of this month, accompanied by a specialized medical exhibition for the latest medical equipment and pharmaceutical industries.
