Damascus, Moscow: US Slows Down Process of Evacuating Rukban Camp Residents, Steals Syrian Oil to Fund Terrorists

MOSCOW, (ST)- The United States is responsible for the slow process of evacuating the displaced people staying in al-Rukban camp that results in more victims and worsens the suffering of tens of thousands of Syrians trapped inside the camp by the US occupation forces and their affiliated terrorist groups located in al-Tanf area, the Syrian and Russian Coordination Committees for the Returning of Displaced Syrians reaffirmed, pointing out that the United States is stealing the Syrian oil and facilitates its smuggling to fund terrorist groups.

In a statement on Wednesday, the committees said that only “a quarter of the camp’s residents have been evacuated,” because of the US irresponsible and unconstructive practices which cause more civilian victims and add suffering to the Syrians trapped there.

The statement added that the United States and its allies have created a fuel crisis in Syria to squeeze the Syrian economy while it keeps stealing and smuggling the Syrian national resources through transferring them from the left bank of the Euphrates river to fund terrorist groups in order to carry out terrorist explosions aiming at destabilizing Syria and preventing its reconstruction.

The statement urged the United States to give up its double standards policy and respect human rights and international law by immediately withdraw its occupation troops from the Syrian territories. It also called on US humanitarian organizations to pressure Washington as to lift the economic sanctions imposed on Syria as soon as possible and to dismantle al-Rukban and al-Hawl camps and release the Syrian citizens held in these two camps to facilitate their return to their areas of permanent residence.

According to the statement, the situation in al-Hawl camp in the eastern area of Syria is not less catastrophic than the situation in Rukban camp as residents are facing the same problems, including the lack of food and medicine, the restriction of residents’ movement and family separation.
