Damascus International Fair Kicks off Its 60th Edition at Fairground

DAMASCUS-Representing President Bashar al-Assad, Prime Minister Imad Khamis inaugurated on Thursday the 60th edition of Damascus International Fair under the motto “the glory of Orient starts from Damascus.”

According to SANA, international and local figures attended the opening ceremony, on top, President of Abkhazia Raul Khajimba and in the presence of 48 foreign and Arab countries and a big number of trade and industrial companies.

 Prime Minister said in a speech at the opening ceremony that during reconstruction process, the government sets off from the national interest and its decision is sovereign, adding that the government welcomes any cooperation that achieves common interests.

“As it has won its war against terrorism, Syria will gain victory in the war of reconstruction and building to return a state that could be difficult to ignore it at international and regional files,” Khamis added.

He affirmed that Damascus International Fair represents one of the most important windows through which the Syrian government tries to contact with friendly and brotherly countries in order to introduce the available, great opportunities of investment today in Syria.

The Premier affirmed Syrian leadership determination to provide suitable conditions for launching a national dialogue that brings together all Syrians and to restore every piece of land from claws of terrorism synchronizing with serious economic steps to enter the country in the biggest workshop of reconstruction.

 “There were many work fronts to which the government has faced, under a direct instruction from President al-Assad, to take every efforts which guarantee a quick return for the agrarian and industrial production circle and treat all problems that might prevent from a new and strong beginning for local investment activity,” Khamis said.

 He pointed out to the attempt of terrorists in the last session of the Fair to make it a failure through launching shells of their spite which targeted a number of innocent civilians on the doors of the Fairgrounds.

 

“The government seeks to strengthen the bridges of its cultural, economic and political relations the friendly and brotherly countries, adopting the same policy since the correctionist Movement of 1970,” Khamis added.
