DAMASCUS Hosts Arab, Islamic Forum on Supporting Resistance

DAMASCUS, (ST)- Under the Patronage of President Bashar Al-Assad, the Arab and Islamic Gathering Forum on Supporting Resistance was opened on Saturday at the Opera house in Damascus with the participation of representatives of 28 Arab and Islamic countries.

The two-day forum, titled “The Nation against US-Zionist-Takfiri Aggression” is due to concentrate on Syrian and Iraqi issues in the light of the terrorist conspiracy targeting the two countries in addition to ways of strengthening the “people, army and resistance” equation in confrontation of organized terrorism and foreign-backed takfiri gangs.

The importance of military and political coordination between Syria, Iran and Russia in the fight against terrorism and the need to preserve the territorial integrity of Syria and Iraq are also to be discussed.

Focus will also be made on issues relating to Yemen, Bahrain, Libya and Palestine.

During the opening ceremony, Assistant Regional Secretary of the Baath Arab Socialist Party  Hilal al-Hial, Representative of President Al-Assad, said the forum aimed at voicing support for resistance. He highly appreciated the participants’ solidarity with Syria in its war on terrorism, stressing that Syria is determined to achieve victory.

The conferees voiced support for the Syrian state and people in the war on takfiri terrorism and stressed that peaceful solution based on intra-Syrian dialogue is the best option to solve the crisis in Syria.

They affirmed the need to resist and confront the American-Zionist-Takfiri scheme and its tools in the region.

The participants condemned the Gulf Cooperation Council and the Arab League’s decisions that classified Hizbollah as a terrorist organization, clarifying that the decision was an attempt to underestimate the achievements made by the Hizbollah resistance men and the Syrian Arab Army in the battle against terrorists in Syria.

They pointed out that the decision uncovered the Arab League and Gulf countries’ false slogans that claim support for the Palestinian cause and other just Arab causes.

The participants asserted that Palestine will continue to be the core issue in the conflict with the Zionist enemy and that only resistance can restore the usurped Palestinian lands and rights. They stressed that the Saudi regime’s aggression against Yemen serves the Zionist enemy, calling for an immediate end to this aggression.
