Damascus- (ST)- On the occasion of May 6, Martyrs’ Day, Damascus Governorate, in coordination with the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Persons Affairs in the Ministry of Defense, honored 100 families of martyrs of the Syrian Arab Army, at the Governorate Sports Club in Kafr Sousse.
The honoring ceremony included an artistic performance by the talented students of the “Tomorrow Is Ours” project, during which they presented paintings and songs including “Syria, My Love” and “My Homeland,” in addition to patriotic songs glorifying martyrdom and the martyr.
The Governor of Damascus, Engineer Muhammad Tariq Krishati, stressed in his speech that martyrdom for the sake of defending the homeland is the most noble message that a person can carry anywhere in the world, and that the cause and principles are a very precious message that a person carries and sacrifices for, indicating that the nobility of this message that the martyr carried extends to include His family members and children are the most capable of knowing the meanings of sacrifice and redemption and following them.
Engineer Krishati said: “We celebrate the martyrdom and the martyrs. We must salute the Syrian mother, the woman who gave birth, raised and created these heroes and proved throughout the years of the terrorist war on our beloved homeland that no one could match her in her sacrifice, steadfastness and patience, which was one of the reasons for our clear victory.”
In turn, the Director of the Directorate of Martyrs, Wounded and Missing Affairs, Major General Bassam Berri, pointed out that the martyrs were loyal on the day of redemption, and their homeland was proud and victorious, and before their giving, all giving was diminished. They were the ones who embodied the meaning of sacrifice in a homeland of heroism and pride, pointing out that the martyrs embodied the love of the homeland as a tangible reality through Offering one’s soul for the sake of preserving its purity and holiness and remaining invincible and free… rejoicing in the blood of its righteous sons… martyrdom for the sake of the homeland… is a life that does not know death.
A number of the families of the martyrs expressed their pride and pride in their children who illuminated the path to victory with their pure blood, stressing that the martyrs will remain the beacon that will light the way for future generations and that martyrdom is a great value to which inspirations bow.
The honor was attended by the Secretary of the Damascus branch of the Arab Socialist Baath Party, Hussam Al-Samman, the Damascus Police Commander, Major General Musa Al-Jassem, the Chairman of the Provincial Council, Engineer Muhammad Iyad Al-Shamaa, the Deputy Head of the Executive Office, Engineer Ali Al-Mubayed, and a number of members of the Executive Office.
