Damascus Chamber of Industry Aspires to Expand MOTEX Fair

DAMASCUS, (ST) – Bassel Hamwi, Chairman of Damascus Chamber of Industry said  that Motex Fair Commission is currently considering the results MOTEX session which was held recently in Beirut in order to avoid errors and to reach a satisfactory preparations for the next session Which will also be held in Beirut during next August and the goal is to achieve the desired results.

Mr. Hamwi pointed out that the Fair committee will coordinate with all the organizers of the exhibition in order to ensure its ability to show Syrian products in a manner that agrees with its reputation as well as providing material and moral support that reflects the increase of the number of participants from all disciplines.

“The last session of the Motex Fair was organized in Amman mid-year 2012, the number of participating companies amounted to about 60 and over an area of almost 1,200 square meters while the Motex Fair in Damascus was built on an area of 14 thousand square meters and with the participation of 425 companies from various disciplines and the productive sectors of the children’s clothing, men and omen fabrics, stockings, cotton clothes and requirements of production.

For his part, Hisham Arab al-Halabi, member of the Office of the Damascus Chamber of Industry, affirmed that the Committee hopes that the crisis will end soon in Syria, so the committee can re-organize the fair at the venue of the Damascus Fair and the return of all the industrialists to production to revive the national economy.

He pointed out that Motex was not only useful for the textile industry, but also its positive effects  extended to other sectors such as tourism, transport and advertising and other terms, whereas the number of visitors of the fair in Damascus from outside Syria was about 5,000 visitors a year.
