Damascus, ST) – Despite many difficulties, including the old equipment and looms and the destruction and looting committed by the terrorists during the years of war on Syria, the Damascus Carpet Factory continues to work efficiently as the workers and technicians in this factory are exerting their utmost efforts to weave and produce wonderful woolen carpets which are among the best types of carpet.
Director of the factory, Eng. Hayan Abu Fakhr, said that after the terrorists were expelled from the area, the factory partially returned to production after its cadres restored the looms, machines and equipment.
Abu Fakhr indicated that despite all the difficulties it has faced, the factory managed to produce and sell more than 14,900 square meters of carpet from the beginning of the year until the end of last month at a value of more than 900 million Syrian pounds, which constitutes 50 percent of the production plan.
Abu Fakhr pointed out that all the factory’s products are fully marketed, as the price 1 square meter of produced woolen carpet is 72,000 pounds at retail.
It is noteworthy that woolen carpet is produced only by two factories in Syria, the Damascus factory and the Sweida factory.
