DAMASCUS,(ST)_Syrian Foreign and Expatriates Ministry calls upon the UN Security Council to shoulder its responsibility and issue a clear condemnation of the terrorist acts that target innocent citizens in Syria.
The ministry addressed two identical letters to the International Security Council’s Head and UN Secretary General about the new massacres perpetrated on Wednesday by al-Nusra Front in Aleppo against dozens of innocent citizens.
“A terrorist group from al-Nusra Front collectively executed dozens of abducted citizens in a cold blood and threw their bodies in Quieq River in Bustan al-Qasr in Aleppo,” the letters read.
It added that while the authorities along with locals are following evidence on this new massacre, the facts indicate that the bodies were found in the place where terrorists are active and there is no presence for the army on the banks of Queiq river, as well as there are barbed wires along the stream of the river that separate the region form the centers of the army, and the height of water in the river is very little and it is stagnant.
The Ministry cited words of a terrorist, who was arrested by law enforcement personnel, that the terrorist groups were perpetrating their crimes prior to the meetings of the UN Security Council to stir the local and international public opinion against Syria.
“A number of the families have identified some bodies of their relatives, broadcast by some TV channels which are partners in shedding the Syrian blood as bodies for citizens, as usual, attributing this act to the Syrian Arab army.”
“The families stressed that these bodies are the same of those abducted by the terrorists because of their refusal to cooperate with al-Nusra Front and their call for terrorists’ departure from inhabited areas. The terrorists contacted the families many times asking for ransoms,”the Ministry said. ‘
The Ministry appealed to the UNSC to deplore the massacres’ perpetrators and those who provide them with weapons, equipment, money, shelter, political and media cover, encouraging them to go on with their crimes which seek to destabilize the state.
It called on the international community to truly adhere to combating terrorism and its supporters under the UN relevant resolutions, indicating that Syria reminds once again that not implementing these resolutions and practicing double-standard policy in dealing with them would voice skepticism about the UNSC credibility in fighting terrorism that threatens all world countries.
The Ministry asserted that preventing condemnations of terrorist acts in Syria by some member states at the UN Security providing a political cover for the terrorists and encourage them to carry out more terrorist atrocities.
It called on the countries that hinder condemnation to reconsider their stances which do not serve security, peace, and efforts of combatting terrorism all over the world.
