Damascus and Pyongyang discuss counterterrorism, development of bilateral ties
DAMASCUS,(ST)_Speaker of the People’s Assembly [Parliament] has said that the anti-western dominance countries must form a united political front to confront the international terrorism and its supporters.
Mohammad Jihad al-Lahham clarified that the confrontation of international terrorism and its supporters could be done through joint parliamentary action or through executive authorities at all levels.
His remark came during his today’s meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister of the Democratic People’s Republic of Korea (DPRK) Sin Hong Chol, who is visiting Damascus.
Al-Lahham and Chol discussed parliamentary cooperation between the two countries plus the unjust terror war led by the U.S. and the western colonialist countries against Syria , according to the official news agency (SANA).
The agency quoted al-Lahham as citing that the U.S. Administration and its allies have violated the U.N resolutions through going ahead with supporting the terrorist organizations in Syria in order to serve Israel and their colonialist plot in the region.
The Speaker also briefed Chol on the efforts being exerted by the Syrian state to enhance national reconciliation in several areas, highly appreciating the Democratic Korea’s stances towards the Syrian prople.
He called for developing parliamentary, political and economic relations between Syria and Democratic Korea.
Democratic Korean’s support to Syria
On his part, The Democratic Korean official said that Syria is able to achieve victory over the Takfiri terrorists and to exit the crisis stronger.
Chol asserted the continuity of his country’s support to Syrian people’s steadfastness and the Syrian state’s efforts in confronting the terror war being waged against Syria.
Earlier, Chol separately held talks with Prime Minister Dr. Wael al-Halaqi, Foreign and Expatriates Minister Walid al-Muallem and Agriculture Minister Ahmad al-Qadri.
Al-Halaqi told Chol that Syria and Democratic Korea stand in the same trench in confronting the world imperialism and Zionism and they pay the price for that.
While al-Muallem underscored Syria’s determination to counter terrorism and to defend its people and interests.
