“Damascene Details” exhibition reflects the beauty of old Damascus

“Damascene Details” is the title of the joint art exhibition by the two artists, Reem Bismar and Hala Hasnawi, which opened yesterday at the Arab Center in Abu Rummana.

50 real life paintings were presented in the exhibition “Damascene Details.” The paintings, depicted details of old Damascus, with its neighborhoods, alleys, and markets, as well as its mosques and beautiful houses which are part of our heritage.

Artist Reem Basmar told Syria times news paper that she displayed 30 paintings that reflect the details of old city of Damascus , Damascene flowers and Arabic calligraphy, decorations and the beauty of women .

She showed in her drawings the Damascene houses and inhabitants, the customs and traditions of the people, the old markets, neighborhoods, and alleys. She also painted flowers and roses of Damascus to present the beauty of Damascus environment .

Artist Reem Basmar,is a computer engineer.She also has a diploma in fine art.She graduated from the London College of Art. She participated in a number of collective exhibitions and held many solo exhibitions.

For her part, Artist Hala Hasnawi said that that her talent for drawing began innately in her early childhood and continued with her to adulthood.

Hala displayed 20 paintings in her first exhibition reflecting the details of Damascene houses, as the lake, the heavenly courtyard, the Iwan (space next to fountain in Damascene style houses partially covered), the incense burner. She painted them with oil paints in a realistic style.
