The Russian Transport Ministry has estimated the daily losses of the foreign airlines of 19 countries at USD 37,5 million as they have to change their tracks after Russia has imposed a ban on using its airspace.
In a statement reported by Tass news agency, the ministry said that the foreign airlines will be obliged to change their tracks and go around Russia’s lands when they conduct flights from western Europe to southeast Asia, which will increase the flight period to almost two hours.
The aviation authorities in the United States, the European Union, Canada and other countries have banned Russian airlines from using their airspaces on the backdrop of the Russian military operation in Ukraine, which required Russia to implement retaliatory measures.
