“Dahab Expo 2”, held between September 26-29, constituted an important platform to introduce visitors to the latest innovations in the world of fashion and design, where participating companies display their various products that meet the needs of the local and global markets.
The exhibition aims to enhance the Syrian commercial sector, show the development witnessed by local industries and provide all the available capabilities to support the industry and the participants.
Syria times e- newspaper visited the exhibition and interviewed a number of participants who noted that the name “ Dahab Expo” came from the important value of the Syrian industry, which was and still is competitive to other countries’ industries, and now it is continuing and returning to its glory after a war that lasted 13 years, recovering and rising stronger than before.
At the pavilion of the regional office of the Union of Productive Families and Handicrafts and Traditional Industries in Syria, we met the craftswoman Ezdihar Darwish who referred to the diversity of the exhibits and the participation, and to the remarkable turnout of visitors from inside and outside Syria.
She stressed that the exhibition is evidence that the Syrian industry has maintained its quality and brilliance.
“My participation came through displaying handicrafts such as rugs, mats, woolen clothes for children and shawls. I consider my works as ambassadors representing me and my country, Syria, which is famous for its ancient traditional industries and handicrafts” Ezdihar added, noting that exhibitions play important role in spreading and marketing our products and in exchanging experiences.
With singing and joy, the students of “Crochet with Rima” Project participated in ” Dahab Expo” under the supervision of Mrs. Rima Mohsen, who holds a Master’s degree in Speech and Language Education for Children.
“We call our project “Made with Love”, which is supported by the United Nations Development Center, because every piece we make is made with love, passion and care” Rima said.
She added the project aims to train children, especially those with special needs, to create their own projects by learning some simple traditional handicrafts”.
Mrs. Rima pointed out that people with special needs showed a distinct ability and skill in learning and were able to produce distinctive pieces of art, noting that they gave me more love than I gave them.
“This is my second participation in Dahab Expo 2″, which shed light on the products of our project that include works of crochet including bags, hats, toys, accessories, and roses” she said.
“I am very happy with my project through which I present the Syrian product and raise the name of my country high. Our project products have been sold to Iraq, Dubai, Spain, America and Algeria” Rima expressed.
At the Ministry of Industry pavilion, Syriatimes met Eng. Roudina Al-Hanoun, Director of the Technical Institute for Textile Industries.
She said “We participated in two departments of the institute, ready-made clothing and textile chemistry, which specializes in dyeing fabrics. Our participation aimed to display the products and graduation projects of the institute’s students who studied theoretical studies in addition to vocational and practical training to qualify them to enter the labor market with all professionalism”.
She noted the importance of supporting students of vocational education who have distinguished capabilities to effectively take part in supporting their country’s economy.
