Czech site: Palmyra is a legendary city, and Syrians are making their best to bring its glory back

Prague, (ST) – The Czech “Nesbyje” website affirmed that Palmyra represents a legendary city because it was one of the most prominent cultural centers in the ancient era, and therefore it deserves to be on the UNESCO list of internationally protected human and cultural heritage.

In a report published today about the city, the website said that “during its long history, Palmyra was subjected to looting several times and its inhabitants were forced to leave it, but it has always managed to attract attention thanks to its charm and ancient history.

The site indicated that in the 18th century BC, the Amorites settled in Palmyra oasis at its natural sulfur springs, but the peak of its prosperity happened in the period between the first and third centuries AD.

The report indicated that Palmyra’s borders are now open to everyone, while also Syrian archeologists are making tremendous efforts to bring back its splendor and its advanced tourist status among the archaeological sites in the region.
