Czech Republic Willing to Contribute to Reconstructing Syria, Rehabilitating its Damaged Archeological Sites
DAMASCUS- Economy Minister Adib Mayaleh discussed with the Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic Martin Tlapa the economic ties between the two countries and the Czech Republic’s assistance in the reconstruction era in Syria.
Tlapa expressed his country’s willingness to cooperate with Syria in establishing joint projects that contribute to reconstructing the country, saying that his visit to Syria also aims at delivering humanitarian aid to the Syrian people, particularly food and medicine, according to SANA.
In a press statement, the Czech official hoped that the EU would discuss the economic, coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people, stressing the importance of Russian, US and EU’s cooperation to find a political solution to the crisis in Syria.
“It is the right of the Syrians to determine their future,” Tlapa said, affirming that he will convey the reality of events in Syria to the EU parliament.
Mayaleh, on his part, said that Czech is one of the main countries that will help the Syrians reconstruct their country, adding that he discussed with the Czech official the possibility of receiving trade and industrial delegations from Czech republic to get aquatinted with the situation and the possibility of cooperation.
Contribution to rehabilitating damaged archeological sites
Also, Culture Minister Mohammad al-Ahmad discussed with Tlapa cooperation between Syria and Czech in the culture domain, particularly means of preserving ruins, heritage and holding joint culture activities.
“Syria and the Czech Republic are connected by old friendly ties as we have the same cultural heritage and experiment,” Culture Minister said in a press statement, adding that talks during the meeting concentrated on the way through which the Czech side can help Syria rehabilitate and restore what has been destroyed of antiquities at the hands of armed terrorist groups, SANA reported.
He affirmed that the visits by foreign delegations to Syria are very important as they form an opportunity to brief them on the acts of Takfiri terrorism which has sought to target the country’s history and civilization.
Tlapa, for his part, appreciated Syrian people’s struggle against terrorism, affirming his country’s readiness to offer help to Syrian in different domains, particularly in the field of rehabilitating historical monuments and antiquities.
