Czech Republic: A biochip that diagnoses corona within 15 minutes developed

Prague (ST): Researchers from the Institute of Physics of the Czech Academy of Sciences have developed biochips that can, within 15 minutes, diagnose the presence of the Corona virus in the body with an accuracy comparable to the accuracy of PCR tests.

The head of the research team, Hana Lisalova, indicated that the sensitivity of these chips has not decreased with any new mutant of the Coronavirus, explaining that biochips are a broad concept and what has been developed can be called functional layers that consist of quartz crystals covered with a very thin layer of polymer.
She added that the last layer has special specifications and can be used to diagnose many disease-causing substances, noting that receptors have been placed in the polymer layer that are able to identify what is intended within the comprehensive biological states.
These chips enable the identification of various corona virus mutations, because they focus on the (N) protein that is more resistant to the mutant than other virus proteins.
