Czech Lawmakers Visit Syria to Discuss How Their Country Can Provide Help to Syrian People

 DAMASCUS, (ST)-Czech delegation composed of four members of parliament representing various political parties in the Czech Republic arrived today here for a several-day visit  upon an invitation from the Syrian People’s Assembly [Parliament].

The delegation’s head Zuzka Bebarová-Rujbrová told reporters at the Damascus International Airport that she hopes to discuss how Czech Republic can offer help to Syria, expressing her pleasure for coming here.

“The delegation came to Syria by small cargo plane carrying medicines and aid to alleviate Syrians’ suffering,”  Rujbrová said, stressing the importance of dialogue to help calm down the situation.

 She also underscored the need to enhance relations between the two countries [Czech and Syria]. “We will sincerely convey what we will see in Syria to our colleagues in the Czech parliament and to media outlets in our country.”

The politician added that it is necessary to differentiate between those who have been forced to leave their homes because they faced threats and those who have left their homes to search for a better economic level.

“My country helps the persons affected by the war in order to stay and live in the countries from which they descend,” she clarified.

On his part, MP. Laois Luzz, a delegation member, said: ” All world countries agree on only one point, which is the threat of terrorism that causes pain not only to Syria but also to the European Union and causes concern for great powers, such as the United States and Russia.”

He asserted that terrorism is No.1 problem in the world. 

Syrian MP. Butros Morjani referred to the positive role of Czech embassy in reaching ways for dialogue and conveying the reality of events in Syria to the Czech government.

He affirmed the importance of dialogue for Syria which has adopted the peaceful and political solution; an issue that requires exchanging views to attain such a solution and find most effective ways to uproot terrorism.
