Prague, (ST) – Czech political, cultural and social figures have called on their country’s government and European countries to stop fueling the war in Ukraine, by sending weapons to it and imposing sanctions on Russia.
In a petition addressing the European governments and signed by dozens of people, including former Czech Foreign Minister Jan Kavan, journalist Matej Strobitzky, and scientific researcher Professor Vaclav Horgici, these figures said that the Western sanctions imposed on Russia did not achieve their goal, but rather harmed European countries and their peoples, and for this reason we must stop supporting the war in Ukraine and work to reach a cease-fire, and then make political efforts to reach a just, peaceful solution to the existing crisis.
The figures warned that the current situation on Ukrainian territory exceeds all the current economic repercussions of the war. They warned of the danger of a possible nuclear conflict, the repercussions of which will be catastrophic for the entire world.
