Czech Development Projects in Syria to Form a Base for Future Bilateral Economic Relations

PRAGUE, (ST)- The Czech Republic plans to earmark some 7.8 million USD  to provide humanitarian aid to Syria and carry out development projects in the country, according to the Czech “Bravo” newspaper.

The newspaper said in a report on Saturday that the projects will form the base for establishing future economic relations between the two countries.

 The Czech Foreign Minister Lubomir Zoaralek is due to submit a special document on the plan during the government’s meeting on Wednesday. The meeting will discuss the programs for the aid deliveries and projects the Czech republic plans to implement in Syria, added the newspaper, pointing out that the document provides for considering these projects as a ground for new economic relation between Syria and the Czech republic.

The Czech aid will first concentrates on humanitarian assistance, including food materials, health care, medicines and medical equipments in addition to the help in building the infrastructure and in the second phase focus will be made on reconstruction in Syria, according to “Bravo”.

Earlier this month, two Czech planes arrived at Damascus Airport carrying medical aid provided by the Czech Red Cross to the Syrian Arab Red Crescent (SARC)and  set to be distributed to citizens in different Syrian provinces.
