Czech Aid to Syria Aims at Easing People’s Suffering, Helping in Reconstruction

PRAGUE – The CZK 195 million approved by the Czech government in aid to Syria aims at easing the suffering of the civilians and help in reconstruction in the country, said the Foreign Ministry of the Czech Republic, according to SANA.

In a statement, the Ministry added that the Czech Republic offers this aid to Syria on the basis of the UN Security Council’s relevant resolutions, particularly resolution no. 2254 of 18 December 2015 which calls for providing humanitarian aid and pushing for a political solution to the crisis in Syria.

On Monday, Czech Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said his country would provide Syria with humanitarian and development aid worth CZK 195 million (equal USD 7.8 million) for 2016 and the following three years.
