Prague, (ST) – Czech academic, cultural, religious and medical personalities confirmed that what is happening in Gaza Strip is a bloody Israeli aggression targeting civilians and the number of victims among women and children is shocking and horrifying.
In a letter to the Czech government, about 80 Czech personalities expressed their concern about the catastrophic humanitarian situation currently existing in Gaza. They called on the country’s political leaders to change their position on the crisis in the Middle East in line with the values they say they embrace.
The personalities called on Peter Fiala’s government to change its biased positions toward the Israeli occupation. They warned that this government ignores the ongoing humanitarian catastrophe in Gaza.
They also called on the Czech Republic to join the international call to secure immediate humanitarian aid for civilian victims of the war.
The signatories of the letter include Anna Shabatova, the former Commissioner for Human Rights in the Czech Republic, Bishop Vaclav Mali, university professor and writer Filip Otrata, theater director David Zelenka, writer and documentary director Natasa Dudinska, and doctor Lida Hesova.
