Nicosia (ST): Cypriot President Nicos Anastasiades affirmed the necessity for the Turkish regime to commit to international law and halt its expansionist aggressive measures in a number of states in the region.
Interviewed by the German Die Welt newspaper, Anastasiades said that the Turkish regime’s digging for oil opposite the Cypriot coast contradicts international law and violates Cyprus sovereignty.
He added that the Turkish regime’s practices in the Cypriot territorial water are part of the Turkish policies in eastern Mediterranean and expansionist policies in Syria, Libya and Greece.
Anastasiades said that despite the sanctions put by the EU in response to gas drilling operations conducted by Turkey, Ankara continues to escalate threatening security and stability in the region as a whole.
