Cyber-attacks target public email servers

Damascus (ST): The Information Security Center at the National Authority for Network Services announced that it had monitored several electronic attacks targeting public email servers with the aim of spreading malicious software on the Syrian network. These attacks took advantage of weak protection measures used to secure the targeted servers or their users.

The Center recommended that all public and private entities take precautions against these electronic attacks in order to avoid and remedy the cases of intrusion resulting from these email attacks, and to avoid their consequences of data leakage and misuse of email accounts, which are information crimes punishable by law.

The Information Security Center in the authority asked all public authorities to take appropriate protection measures to address these attacks.
