Cultural activities in Damascus and Homs

Syria is the resource of civilization and art and it still has a pivotal role in cultural activities at local and world levels despite the ongoing terror war on the country.

An art exhibition and a book fair were held this week in Damascus and Homs.

The exhibition included 140 visual art works made by youths competing for the awards of the 2016 Spring Exhibition whose first session was held in the 1960s in Aleppo city.

While the book fair, which was held in al-Baath University in Homs, included 1000 titles and it will last for a month.

Discounts reached up to 10-30 % on books’ prices has been announced in order to encourage youths to read printed books.

Last month, a book fair was held in Hama and attracted large number of visitors.

At the beginning of this year, the Arab Writers Union in Syria launched the slogan the ‘Culture of enlightenment’ for the 9th session (2015-2020) that aims to enhance the Syrian identity and the culture of dialogue, rebuild awareness, empower creative youth and confront Takfiri thinking.
