Cuban, Foreign and Arab Students Sign Petition in Solidarity with Syria

Cuban, Foreign and Arab students in Cuban universities have signed a petition in solidarity with Syria, stressing their support for it in fighting terrorism.

The signing ceremony was held after a solidarity stand organized Thursday by Syrian Students National Union (SSNU) in coordination with Students Union in Havana University and Syrian Embassy in Cuba, according to the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA).

The agency quoted  representative of Cuban Students National Union Miguel Hernander as saying during the stand: “Cuban, Arab and Foreign students in Cuban university stand by Syrian people, army and leadership in confronting the aggressive war being waged on Syria.”

He denounced the U.S. aggression carried out last month against al-Shayrat airfield in Homs and the terror blast that targeted a bus carrying evacuees from Foua and Kafraya towns.

Syria is ‘front of resistance’

“Syria is alone fighting world terrorism today,” Hernander asserted, calling on students all over the world to stand by Syria.

A Palestinian student said that the goal of the attempts to destroy Syria is to destroy the Palestinian cause because Syria was and still the front of resistance against the Zionist entity.

Head of the SSNU’ Cuba branch Orwa Mahmoud thanked Cuba and its students for their continuous solidarity with Syria and their efforts to explain what is going on in Syria far away from western misinformation.

Other words of thanks to students participated in the stand were said by head of Syrian diplomatic mission to Havana Loay al-Oja.

“Students are the most segment of society that realize the reality of imperialist conspiracies, which target peoples’ dignity and sovereignty,” he said.

On April 11, the Syrian community and students in Cuba released a statement in which they said that the U.S. aggression, which contradicts international law and UN Charter, unmasked the ugly face of America as a leader of new colonialism.

“Syria is being targeted because it is the last bastion of Arab resistance ,” the statement asserted, adding that serious confrontation of terrorism till the liberation of every inch in Syria from Wahabbi terrorists is the suitable retaliation for these crimes.

Since 2011, a foreign-backed terror war has been waged against Syria targeting its army, people, civilization and infrastructures in accordance with US-Zionist plot that aims to fragment the region and to have hegemony over its wealth.
