Cuban Embassy Calls on Syrian Intellectuals to Support Letter to Biden Regarding Re-Including Cuba in List of State Sponsors of Terrorism
The Embassy of the Republic of Cuba in Damascus called on the Arab Writers Union and all artists, thinkers, academics and social activists to support the open letter of writer and journalist Ignacio Ramonet addressed to US President Joe Biden, in which he refutes the US administration’s accusations against Cuba and its re-inclusion on the list of state sponsors of terrorism.
In his letter, Ramonet confirms the truth known to everyone in the world that Cuba is a true advocate of peace, health and education, and this is completely opposite to terrorism, and that Cuba has condemned and fought terrorism and has never encouraged or sponsored terrorism, and has never practiced terrorism for 65 years, despite the tensions that existed with the United States, and there is not a single case of violence that occurred on US territory with Havana’s support directly or indirectly.
In his letter, Ramonet points out that Cuba was one of the countries most exposed to attacks by terrorist organizations, as more than 3,500 Cubans were killed in attacks committed by terrorist groups financed, armed and trained by organizations based in the United States.
The letter, which has so far been signed by a large number of individuals, social movements, trade unions, humanitarian associations and NGOs around the world, calls for redressing the injustice committed by former US President Donald Trump on January 12, 2021, a week before he left the White House, and without legal basis, by re-including Cuba on the shameful list of states sponsoring terrorism.
