HAVANA- Orlaida Cabrera, Director of the Middle East and Africa Department at the Cuban Institute for Friendship with the Peoples (ICAP), has voiced her country’s support for the Syrian people and leadership in the confrontation of the terrorist war being waged by imperialism and reactionary regimes on the country.
Cabrera, who was speaking on the occasion of Syria’s Independence Day and during a meeting held with Head of the Syrian diplomatic mission in Havana Loay al-Ouji, hailed the Syrian people’s struggle, steadfastness and sacrifices to win independence.
On their part, Horhe Luis Oramas, Head of the International Cooperation Department in Cuba’s Artemisa province and Mabiel Martinez, Director of the Artmisa Martyrs Museum, stressed that Syria’s martyrs are like those of Cuba in terms of the sacrifices offered to win independence and maintain dignity and freedom.
Syria’s martyrs during the past four years of terrorist war are considered as Cuba’s martyrs, because the two countries are in the same trench to fight terrorism and foreign intervention, according to the two Cuban officials.
Head of the Syrian diplomatic mission in Havana Loay al-Ouji reiterated that independence was achieved thanks to the Syrians’ adherence to national unity, to their sacrifices and to the many convoys of martyrs they offered during their long and hard struggle against colonialists.
He affirmed that the Syrian people’s steadfastness and strong determination within the ongoing war stem from the legacy and awareness of their forefathers whose sacrifices and adherence to national unity led to the expulsion of the French colonialism and to the foiling of all forms of conspiracies which have been hatched against the country since 1946.
