DAMASCUS, (ST)- The Cuban Ambassador in Damascus Miguel Porto Parga has reaffirmed that his country will continue to support Syria at international forums and to back its right to liberate its land from terrorism.
Parga made the remarks during a reception ceremony held on Wednesday by the Cuban Embassy in Damascus marking the 61st anniversary of the victory of the Cuban Revolution.
He stressed the deep-rooted Syrian-Cuban relations, pointing out that cooperation between the two countries will be enhanced in all domains, mainly in the health and media sectors.

Syria’s Assistance Minister of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates Ayman Soussan said that the Cuban Revolution had made Cuba an icon of steadfastness and struggle for liberation and a beacon for freedom fighters of the world.
Over the past 61 years, Cuba, as a leadership and people, has been confronting an unjust US siege, said Soussan, highly appreciating Cuba’s strong support for Syria in the confrontation of the terrorist war and at international forums.
“This is not strange as the two countries are facing the same aggression by imperialism represented by the United States,” he added.
The reception was attended by several ministers, senior Baath Party officials, MPs, representatives of diplomatic missions in Damascus and heads of some people’s organizations and trade unions.
