GENEVA-Anayansi Rodriguez, Cuba’s Permanent representative to the United Nations Human Rights Council in Geneva, has reiterated her country’s support for attaining a peaceful solution to the crisis in Syria based on negotiations.
Rodriguez, who was speaking during the Council’s 27th session, expressed Cuba’s confidence in the Syrian people and government’s ability to solve their internal issues without any foreign interference.
She condemned the crimes and acts of torture and mutilation committed by the terrorist organizations in Syria, referring to the misleading media campaign which keeps fabricating news about events in the country.
The Cuban diplomat also condemned the behavior of some countries which have provided financial and arms support to the armed extremists and now are claiming they are fighting them.
Last month Cuba warned of the goals of the untraditional war waged by the United States to create chaos in some countries the US considers as its enemies. It also stressed that this war is an old secret tactic used by Washington to encourage ideological damage and destabilize countries to achieve what it calls “regime change”.
The Republican Party-dominated US Congress yesterday approved the American President Barack Obama’s request for training and arming terrorist organizations in Syria.
