Cuba has sent 240 doses of COVID-19 vaccine to Syria as a present to the Syrian people.
Sending these vaccines to Syria confirms the deep-rooted relations between the two countries, the First Deputy Minister of Foreign Trade and Investment of Cuba Ana Teresita Gonzalez said in a statement on Friday during a ceremony held for this purpose at Jose Marti International Airport in Havana.
She reiterated that despite the unfair US blockade imposed on her country, Cuba spares no effort to support friendly countries, mainly Syria, in fighting the corona pandemic.
The deputy minister reaffirmed Cuba’s condemnation of the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian people.

On his part, Syria’s Ambassador to Cuba Idris Mayya, who thanked the Cuban government for this initiative, said that these vaccines will greatly support and assist the Syrian health sector in confronting the pandemic.
Mayya pointed out that despite the terrorist war and the criminal blockade imposed on Syria by America and Western countries, the Syrian government has been working relentlessly to provide necessary healthcare services and take necessary measures to protect the citizens against the corona pandemic.
