NEW YORK, (ST)- President Miguel Diaz Canel of Cuba has reaffirmed his country’s call for a political solution to the crisis in Syria that preserves its sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In his speech at the 73rd Session of the UN General Assembly, Canel reiterated that Cuba is against any foreign intervention in Syria’s internal affairs.
He stressed his country’s support for the Palestinian cause and its solidarity with the Palestinian people in the occupied territories. He urged finding a comprehensive solution to the Palestinian cause based on establishing an independent Palestinian state.
The Cuban President condemned the American policy which aims at subjugating Cuba, reiterating that Havana’s principles are non-negotiable and that the Cuba rejects any conditions that violate its sovereignty. He urged Washington to lift the unjust siege imposed on his country.
