Cuba condemns the repeated Israeli attacks on Damascus, says they are a violation of international law and Syrian sovereignty
Cuba strongly condemned the repeated Israeli attacks on Damascus, stressing that they violate international law and Syrian sovereignty.
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla said: “We strongly condemn the attacks launched by Israel on Damascus and the Mezzeh neighborhood, where there are a large number of diplomatic missions”.
He added: “This act violates Syria’s sovereignty and international law, and endangers the lives of civilians and diplomats accredited in this country”.
3 citizens were martyred and 3 others were injured as a result of an Israeli aggression that targeted a residential building in the Mazzeh neighborhood in Damascus.
In this regard, Cuban Ministry of Foreign Affairs expressed its deep concern about the events taking place in the Middle East region resulting from the aggressive policy pursued by the Israeli entity with military, logistic, and political support of the United Nations, all of which lead to a dangerous escalation and further endanger regional stability and security.
The ministry added in a statement: “After nearly a year of the brutal genocide committed by the Zionist government against the Palestinian people, and as evidence of its absolute disregard for the principles stipulated in the United Nations Charter, and instead of seeking a negotiated solution that guarantees a ceasefire, “Israel” has launched and escalated its irresponsible aggression against Lebanon, Syria and Yemen”.
The ministry continued: “While expressing its solidarity with the countries subjected to Israeli attacks, Cuba calls for peace and negotiations leading to an immediate ceasefire”.
The ministry stressed Cuba’s commitment to justice and international law, and said: “We reaffirm that peace in the Middle East can only be achieved through a comprehensive, lasting and just solution that results in the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state with Al Quds as its capital, and guarantees Palestine’s accession as a full member of the United Nations without further procrastination.
