Cuba has awarded the Friendship Medal to the Syrian Ambassador in Havana Idris Mayya in recognition of his notable contribution to enhancing the historical friendship and solidarity ties between Syria and Cuba.
The medal was awarded to the Syrian diplomat by Cuba’s Minister of Foreign Affairs Bruno Rodriguez Parrilla in accordance with a Presidential decree issued by President Miguel Díaz-Canel.
During the ceremony, Cuba’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Anayansi Rodríguez reaffirmed her country’s support for Syria in the face of the US aggressive policies.
She hailed Syria’s firm stance that rejects the economic, financial and commercial blockade that has been imposed by the United States on Cuba for more than 60 years.
On his part, Mayya thanked Cuba for this honoring initiative, stressing Syria’s continuous support for Cuba’s struggle to end the unfair US siege imposed on its people.
