Crimea stresses trade cooperation with Syria despite coercive measures

Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Republic of Crimea Georgy Muradov has stressed that his country will continue to enhance trade cooperation with Syria despite the unilateral coercive measures imposed on the Syrian government.

Muradov, the Permanent Representative of the Republic of Crimea to the Presidency of the Russian Federation, talked to Sputnik about an upcoming meeting of the Russian-Syrian government committee, and a cooperation agreement that has been prepared between Crimea and Syria on enhancing tourism relations. This cooperation agreement enables the Syrian tourists to visit tourism resorts in Crimea and provides an opportunity for the Crimean tourists to visit Syria for vacations after the situation in Syria improves.

He affirmed that Syria is the first trade partner of Crimea, noting that the two countries have established a trade house and will establish a joint shipping company.

“Syria is being exposed to brutal coercive measures that cause fear to many commercial entities. The road to the Crimean Peninsula is open and we fear nothing,” he emphasized.

In August 2019 and within the activities of the 61st Damascus International Fair, Syria and the Russian Republic of Crimea signed an agreement to enhance trade and economic cooperation between the two countries. The agreement provided for establishing a trade house and a private shipping company and for mutual participation in exhibitions.
